Consultation support for colleagues on hair services

Consultation is the foundation of all hairdressing services. Without the knowledge of analyse and deal with hair, skin and scalp conditions you will not be able to give your client the best service. In salons, consultation is sometimes overlooked or rushed, but it should not be, because spending time with the client and carrying out a thorough consultation will instill confidence and maintain their trust. At Level 3 you will be expected to support your colleagues with any analysis problems reported during consultation. Your role will be supervisory and you will have to consider referrals to a GP, pharmacist or trichologist. Provide consultation support to colleagues When you work in a salon you are part of a team. You will all work together to make sure you provide the best possible service for your clients. Your role at Level 3 is to provide assistance with and clarification of analysis problems reported by colleagues, without undermining them, while also maintaining clients’ trust and confidentiality. A client may feel vulnerable ifa problem has arisen during the consultation process, so be tactful if a colleague asks for your help and support. Effective communication is an essential part of the consultation. Communicate effectively Communication is the process of understanding the thoughts and ideas of others and also expressing your own, and may be verbal or non-verbal. Effective communication is essential when working as part of a team in the salon. Good interpersonal and communication skills will help you maintain good working relationships and develop trust with your clients’. The ability to reassure a client during the consultation process without undermining your colleagues will have far—reaching results for your status within the salon — staff will have respect for you and value your decisions.
